no david a power pulley goes on the crank end, you are correct on it  
robbing cooling  and the porsche gen pulley is smaller and increases  cooling

That is  called a "power pulley" and actually makes the alternator turn 
slower creating  less cooling. Some people use them because they rob a little 
less HP from the  engine but they sacrifice cooling to do it.
