In my '73 the speedo cable came out of the hub cover at the wheel.  I took
safety wire and wrapped it around the end of the cable that was sticking out
of the hub cover, in a bread bag twist closure fashion.  I would guess that
was around 1993, still working fine.

'74 Transporter. Speedometer stopped working. Cable inside is connected. I
know noting about the box or how it works. Does anyone have experience with
repairing the speedometer or any ideas what most likely has broken here?
