I agree with John Kolak. there are a multitude of items to check first before dropping the engine to remove the head, one certainly is the valve train. and of course you should drop the engine if you want to go further, like removing the heads, considering the fact that when you put them back on they will required a torque wrench , one of which most likely will not fit into the confined space in order to torque the heads properly.
