[T2] 'bead' blastinga .....

A fellow VW owner asked me if I knew what to use to 'bead' blast a VW tranny shell, I did not want to reccomend, so thought I would querry the list to see if this can be done..safely..and what to use as a blast 'medium'.  I told him whatever he did use, to 'insulate' the shifter shaft housing, and inside bell housing, to keep everything off and out of those places!  Thanks.
