Type 1 engine... Has anyone else had the carb nuts come loose? The ones that secure the carb to the manifold? We were doing a fairly long drive when the bus started overheating and wouldn't hold an idle. I fiddled around in the engine bay for a bit before I realized that the carb was completely loose! No wonder it was running hot. One of the studs was bent. Fortunately I had some 8mm nuts and was able to tighten it back up, but I don't think it's a perfect seal so I'll have to look at that bent stud and get a new gasket at the least. I spoke to one of the mechanics at the garage I sometimes use and he said that it is not an uncommon fault for those nuts to come loose. I've never had that happen on any vehicle. Has anyone else heard of the carb on a Type 1 engine coming loose? Thanks, Josh .
