Each bulb takes a ground (usually brown) and a 12v+ wire (not brown). It doesn't matter which side is which, the bulbs don't care about polarity. But you must make sure not to short a ground and a 12v on the same connection terminal! A connection terminal will have two or three ground wires, and another connection terminal may have a couple of 12v, as the power is daisy chained along all the bulbs. Besides ground being usually brown, you can pretty easily trace the grounds back to where they bolt down to the chassis. I usually use a volt/ohmmeter to test the ground wire, with one test lead touching the chassis and the other on the space of the wire you are wondering about, you should have zero ohms resistance if it is ground. After 35 years, quite often the wires no longer have their original factory colors, so its best to test. Scott 74 Bus
