John, You probably want to use VW's reccommended tire pressures, on my '75 they are on a label on the steering column, I believe on my '71 they were on the door jamb somewhere. Some info on Ratwell's site: http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Tires.html and a bit in the type 2 archives: http://www.type2.com/library/tires/tireinf.htm I run about 30 on the fronts and 40 on the rears on my '75, with Hankook RA08 185R14C. Works well for me. Your mileage may vary.
