Speaking as a Southern boy, used to be that at a cotton gin they'd keep a tank of kerosene big enough to put a whole bale of cotton in. If they had a bale they thought was burning inside (spontaneous combustion, just like hay), they'd drop the bale in the kerosene. Water wouldn't penetrate a tight bale but kero would, and no explosion risk. I've seen this. In other words, +1 for diesel as a cleaning fluid... [ Don't degrease with benzene either; it's carcinogenic ] --dan
