Back in my 65 beetle days (or was it the Karman Ghia? Same under rear seat) we had heat channels so rusty the air blew out underneath. From Under the back seat I tapped into the heater channels (blocked the run alongside the car) and ran a tube along the side (corrugated tube you can buy still) , under the driver seat, next to the car heat tunnel, up to the front dash (along the radio speaker?) and along under the window, using 2" plumper abs pipe, capped at the end. Drilled a bunch of holes in it and had perfect defrosting. Other side, I just ran the tube under passenger seat and let it blow out there- kept her feet warm.
