[T2] fuel sender

Any recommendations on making my fuel sender last longer on a 74 bus tank?
Sealed tank with POR Tank Sealer system and put in new sending unit and
vibrator at gauge.  Sender failed within 6 months.  No baffles in tank to
keep gauge from bouncing with the slosh while driving and gauge is just a
standard float style from Bus Depot.  Any suggestions for a longer life?
