Best advice I can give (same year bus, same set up) is don't mess with something that's not broke. Your carb may go out of tune slowly over time but you reported a sudden rich fuel condition. Sure sounds like you have a bad float or a piece of debris (fuel line guts) stuck in your fuel bowl shut off. Easy fix for both. Pull the top of your cover on your carb and you can check both items. Possible installed in the vehicle with a stubby screw driver and patience Basically remove the jam but on the check valve and tap on a piece of wood or something spray carb spray and repeat. Float, just see if it floats in anything. Sorry for the long post but his has happened to me twice from small pieces of deteriorated rubber hose.
