[T2] Left Tie Rod 72 Type 2

Hi!

I am about to embark on the journey, the destination of which is a new left
tie rod.  I don’t know the other symptoms, but I have a steering wheel that
is about ¼ turn from centered; I had the van professionally diagnosed, and a
new left tie rod was one of the issues.  Is there anyone out there that can
tell me how to correct this when I install the new rod?  I have been a
devotee of John Muir’s Compleat Idiot manual since 1974, and it’s gotten me
out of some scrapes, but it’s not very helpful with this.
