[T2] Backup lights and carb settings

Hi all, 

Thanks to all for their suggestions over the last week or so. I got the engine fired up yesterday!
 I can't seen to get the engine to idle. I've tried to adjust the carburetor, but the engine sound doesn't change. I tested the relay on the carb, and that works. It seem like the engine is burning off the gas in the bowl and once the gas is gone, then engine stalls unless I pump the gas before the engine stops.

I also connected the backup line to number 15 terminal on the coil according to the schematic. Now when I try to shift into reverse, the engine stalls. The same thing happened to my beetle until I disconnected the wire.

Any suggestions?
