Could the PO have had an issue with the ignition switch and added a
Starter Button instead of replacing the Ign Switch? Cars in the '502 and
earlier used to work this way; in fact there has been new interest in this
method.

I've never had a ig switch fail this way on a bus, but it is the only
thing on the wiring diagram that could be causing this. Unknown what the
previous owner has done to the circuitry. Not my Bus and if a $4 switch
will fix it I'll vote for it.
Come to think of it, my winter caddy, has the same problem. when you go
over a bump, it cuts out. No power to coil, and thus fuel pump relay
which is chained to it.
How is your problem going? Was thinking about you last night wondering
if you have tried starting your bus with a pigtail to the battery and coil
while cranking? This is a gremlin I wouldn't have found if I hadn't been
testing the coil while cranking. Just a thought.

that is where I have my starter relay installed. is there an open plug or

are all the wires geing into something(Relar)? I have had these relays
fail, but they are for starting and might show 0volts while cranking, but
a jumper to coil sould at least get it started.

have you tried starting it directly from the rear either jumping the
starter terminals or with a screwdriver (we've all done this at least
once)

if you run a jumper from coil to battery and it runs. it should run at
least until you remove the wire?!

doesn't sound like how the ignition switch fails.

does it have the rear relay by the blower fan?? check that if it does, I
don't have one so am not sure if it would have any affect.

good luck, sounds like you are close

Bob

myself. I had to stick my nose there also.

ouch! They shipped it down and it didn't run. Ouch! One neighbor was
screwing around inside the dizzy. Said it had spark but wouldn't run.

to the battery and it started right up, for a second anyway. Disconnected
the jumper and had the guy crank it while I checked the voltage at 15 on
coil.

> Looking at the wiring chart I don't see a different connection for
circuit 15 from key on to cranking. Don't understand while that should
make a difference. While looking in the engine bay, I spotted something I
don't have on my 77. Wondering if it is a starter relay. It is located
about 6 " to the left of the battery on the top of the engine bay.
 Multiple wires!

power at coil key on and no power to coil cranking?

my garage in the morning where I could compare its inners against my 77
and pop in my good spares.
