[T2] never ending story in Baltimore (fwd)

78 auto bus

can get it to start. with great difficulty.  one cyl fires (#3) then a second 
and finally the other two. but can take more than a minute of cranking.

runs rough.  real rough at first then after a couple minutes smoooths out but 
still won't idle smoothly.  at 1500rpm it sounds ok. at 900rpm it is spitting 
and popping and automatically trying to speed up idle adjustment screw has no 
effect.  accel linkage may be a bit tight but not that much.

bad gas??????  (I put 5 gal of new in tank)

timing light says it is dang near dead on.  hard to get a good reading when it 
won't idle smoothly.

got new S boot coming but don't think that is the problem but won't hurt since 
current one is cracked and taped.

am so frustrated... can only work first thing in the morning before it gets 
hot...don't even have shade.

think it has no torque just rpms ?+??  make any sense?
