I stripped one of the studs in the oil plate thing in my type 1 engine - I was looking for an 6 X 8 mm stud to fix it - old Rolf was worried about the 8mm side as he felt there was not a lot of metal to play with - john from John's Bug Shop said the same thing and he recommended helicoil - old Rolf stopped by and tapped the hole to sae size slightly larger than 6mm - worked perfectly - cheap and simple Sent from my iPhone > On Nov 5, 2015, at 9:31 PM, John Sheldon <sheldon67 at verizon.net> wrote: > > In final stages of installing a long block stock engine that I purchased in a 74 bus.
