Jules,

The problem has gotten worse and now it happens regardless of engine temperature: it appears to be occurring after running for a certain amount of time say 5 minutes at speed.  It happens when the engine is warmed up and when it is not.

The engine does not appear to be overheating based on the oil temperature gauge.  The cooling fan has also been checked for obstructions.
