Oh sorry. I wasnât clear. The engine is not running. To make sure, I pull the ignition cable that connects the distributor to the coil. I direct the hose that ordinarily carries fuel from the fuel pump to the carb(s) into the jar. Iâm sitting at the engine with a remote starter cranking the engine and watching the flow into the jar. I have done this so often that I even made a little jig to hold the far so it doesnât tip over. > Begin forwarded message: > > From: Chuck & Connie <chuckconnie at cox.net> > Subject: Re: [T2] Fwd: Power loss in 4th > Date: October 21, 2015 at 8:13:56 PM EDT > To: Jack Dinan <jdinan at cox.net> > > I'm going to ask a real dumb question so ready? > How does the thing stay running with no fuel flowing into the carb and into a glass jar and no I am not being a SA. The flow rate is given in Bentley. If one uses a glass jar, one can get a good look at the liquid that your carbs see. In several cases, what flowed into the jar from my engines was troubling, to say the least. There was a lot of sediment and occasionally a two-phase mixture. Both times I ended up pulling the gas tank. The bottom was a pile of rust, flakes, and other particulates. Usually, the sock mesh filter had disintegrated and all this junk was flowing right into the carbs. >> >> I ended up refurbishing the tank.
