Jim, I would also be interested in pictures. Thanks, Chris On 9/21/2015 6:14 AM, Kevin Guarnotta wrote: > Hi Jim, > > I'd love to see what you are describing - I don't know anything about body work. I am trusting this great body shop guy near me. He is very nice, and letting me set up in a corner of his shop to work on it. He will do the stuff that requires skill, and I'll do as much grunt work as I can. I am not following exactly what you are saying with but I'd love to see some pics. > > -Kevin Guarnotta > Jamaica Plain, MA > > '78 Westy > '69 Singlecab > '65 Ez-camper > > -----Original Message----- > From: Jim Morris or Irene Morris [mailto:downindixie at netzero.net] > Subject: RE: [T2] Removing bedliner > > Kevin: > I have 3 bay window SCs and one split. I have purchased gates for a long time so I have a big selection from which to weld in parts. For a while I was buying top and bottom parts from Rich Eweld but he sold his brake. I had a body works class and took apart a bent up tail gate. It was a lot of work. About 200 spot welds. It just takes time. I am in the process of making a profile of the gate top and bottom out of 1/4" steel cut to a profile of the gate. I am now in the process of making enough to weld together to make a 6" shape to pound out dents and weld over with a copper sheet under the weld area. I have used tha HF tool with the twisted wire are on a wheel. It scared me to use it the first time removing rust (and I am a former U.S. Marine) and it can be used at any angle to remove "stuff". > I will send you a picture of my setup if you would like. > Jim Morris in SC > > _______________________________________________ > type2 mailing list > type2 at type2.com > https://www.type2.com/lists/type2/listinfo >
