this puts you in a position of deciding. . are you restoring a bus for resale . or are you fixing your daily driver. VW moved the lights up for a reason, they are a more visible and thus safer position. I have had my bus 23 years now and just put a bunch of bucks into it so I can drive it hopefully another 23yrs. and the poor SOB that may get it next is free to call me any name he wants. currently it is my daily driver and I plan on keeping it. if you are going to restore it for an investment to sell in a few years of course put the correct lights in. but if this is your daily driver and intend to keep it. do what ever you want with it and let the next owner curse you out, you had fun with "YOUR" bus Bob 78 auto and deff not stock On Wed, 6 Apr 2016, david raistrick wrote: > Date: Wed, 6 Apr 2016 13:03:44 -0400 > From: david raistrick <keen at icantclick.org> > To: Kevin Guarnotta <kevin at guarnottadesign.com> > Cc: "type2 at type2.com" <type2 at type2.com> > Subject: Re: [T2] moving turn signals > > it's kind of value destructive - if the next guy wants a early bay > that looks like an early bay, he's going to have to redo the nose at > even greater expense. your bus would just be another hackjob on the > market. > > you'd have to source new late bay turnsignal housings and lenses obviously. > > and I have no idea if the lights operate the same way - certainly they > don't from split > bay. :) > > > I'd just buy the right lower nose piece and patch the upper holes: > > https://klassicfab.com/klassicfab1/en/79-lower-nose > > that's KFBW50 > > > > > > > On Wed, Apr 6, 2016 at 8:42 AM, Kevin Guarnotta > <kevin at guarnottadesign.com> wrote: >> Hi Guys, >> >> As you may recall my '69 singlecab had an accident. >> Front end a little smushed. I understand what he is saying, and am in agreement with it. I was wondering (aside from aesthetics) is there any problem with doing something like this?
