[T2] Good Way to Test a Transmission?

Greetings Volks!

I have a transmission that I have no idea if it works or doesn't work.  It
came with a bus that I was given to part out and scrap.

Is there any good way to test it out besides installing it and taking it
for a spin?

It turns in all gears, but that's about as far as I've gotten...
