/Sorry, I meant to move from reflectrix to the fiber material of Ultra-touch barrier, which has a treated fiber- It's class I rating means it is fire retarded (see below) but usuall Class I can refer to inorganic material like brick or glass. Wood products are Class III. . Oddly, I looked at Reflectix package, it has a Class ClassA/Class ! fire rating, so it will melt but not support combustion? http://www.cellulose.org/HomeOwners/Fire_Control_Insulation.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cellulose Insulation has a Class 1 (A) Fire rating. It is treated with fire retardants to meet all federal, state, and local fire safety requirements. The rating applies to the building assembly. Cellulose insulation flame spread and smoke development ratings Walls with cellulose insulation are one-hour (or greater) fire walls and can help control the spread of fire. Cellulose insulation, as a Class 1 or Class A material, means it has a flame spread <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_spread> of 25 or less. It also has a very lowsmoke development index level. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke-developed_index> When properly installed, cellulose insulation can help reduce the spread of flames in house and building fires. Some cellulose insulation manufacturers have even qualified two and three hour firewall designs using Cellulose Insulation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ On 5/13/2018 12:04 AM, c.dreike wrote: > Before installing that UltraTouch from Home Depot, I would suggest > testing the fire retardant nature by training the flame of a torch > onto it as I did.
