[T2] [Q] '71 Westy Gas Tank

Greetings,

Pulled out my gas tank -- it is filthy. Interesting, though, is the
connections don't make complete sense. There is the fill, pick-up/exit, two
breathers, sender, and one "extra" sort-of sealed tube.

One breather was not connected to anything, and the other connected to a
hard metal tube that disappeared behind some other metal. Still not sure
where that tube goes...

But the real curiosity is the tube on the top of the tank, toward one side
and mid-way down the edge. It looks like it was crimped and pasted-over
with some sort of sealing junk. Any ideas what this tube is?
