Thanks Al:  I took the engine out to fix the both the trans and the
crankshaft seal on the fan side.  I am pretty sure it was leaking, which
would also explain the crap in the fan shroud.  Good tip on the throw out
fork.  My other van sometimes chatters a lot.  That could ‘splain it.
