[T2] ignition and turn signal switch problem

Hi,
Just got the steering column installed and hooked up the wiring for the 
ignition switch and the turn signal switches (using the original VW t/s 
switch, will replace later). The headlights will not work. Looks like 
the new ignition switch does not power up the X terminal wire that goes 
to the X terminal on the headlight switch. Anyone have experience with 
this? I hate to have to remove the switch as the steering column must be 
unbolted to do this. Groan.

The turn signals don't work either. The emergency flasher runs the rear 
lights but not the fronts. Again, groan. This was all working a few 
weeks ago when I test ran the circuits.

Back to the drawing board.
