When I had to replace my alternator, I pulled the engine to make it easier to Chang the alternator. I've seen videos of people changing the alternator without pulling the engine, but I couldn't do that without throwing a wrench across the garage! Not sure how long it would take to do the job either way, but I'm 69 years old, sooooo it would take 3 hours just to pull the engine, a couple of hours to swap the generator, and a couple of hours to get the engine back in the bus. But remember, I'm doing all the work myself with a floor jack a couple of jack stands and ratchet wrenches.
