Use a mirror to view the intake grille at the front of the fan housing. Mine got clogged with grass clippings, unbeknownst to me! The flush intake louvres of the Splittie are readily improved with no moving parts. An oblong strip of aluminium as wide as your 4 fingers, vertical down the rear edge of the louvres, stands out at c.40°, tucks into the top & bottom slots, packs air into the slots at cruising speed. Us Berkeley Splittie fans developed this c.1966; the factory was evidently inspired by it when designing the nice intakes for the Bay. Those compressions are satisfactorily high, and impressively even; no worries Robt Mann '73 1600dp Devon camper On Fri, Sep 27, 2019 at 2:16 PM Chris Dreike <cdreike at gmail.com> wrote: > In poking around on The Samba, I saw a reference to maybe the vents on a > splitty are not large enough to support the dog house size fan. > > Also my compression measures at 1-4, 150, 155, 155, 160.
