don't know why Mike can't post but I forwarded this for him ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 31 Jul 2020 11:45:57 -0400 From: Muts Thumbsaver <muts at verizon.net> To: Bob <accessys at smart.net> Subject: 75 bus trans Hi Bob, Mike here (75, 78 bus in nj)-have you gotten your auto going? Our 78 is for yard use, broke a shock mount in back and the torsion bar tunnel is rusting through so someday, like our 71 did, it will drop 8"!?? Has anyone welded over that tunnel to keep it intact for suspension? ???? Nyssa is successfully driving her 75 bus, but has vibration at idle that may be trans related as the bus seems to shake until it runs at regular rpms, and can pop out of reverse going backwards uphill. It shifts, but I'm pretty sure some of those shift rod bushings to the shift tunnel are gone. A?? few years ago we pulled the engine to replace the stock 3 rib trans, but as I recall, it was a later (5 rib?) trans, and we had issues with fitting it; ie, I know we used longer engine bolts and maybe had to switch bell housings and flywheels/clutch/starters??? Maybe someone here with a better memory can explain the dimension issues that have to be dealt with in case I find an earlier trans.
