BTW those external pushrod tunnels, similar to Triumph etc, contrast with e.g Hopwood's Norton Dominator twin, pushrod tunnels simply cast-in holes in the barrel. I reckon the protection from damage by e.g rocks, and the abolition of leaks at top & bottom, outweigh the extra cooling which will occur in the extl pushrod tubes to the extent that oil circulates in them. Mann's first theorem of History of Technology states: the history of technology is not merely sprinkled with but dominated by blunders. Extl pushrod tunnels are at worst v minor blunders, no?
