David: You are correct that the brakes don't stop the bus, the tires do :). You are also correct that discs are a huge help from a maintenance point of view. They also don't fade. I think you are incorrect that the rear brakes (or tires) are a big help stopping. In a hard stop, all the rear brakes really do is keep you going straight. Even with the static weight bias to the back of the bus (unless you have a fat guy like me in the front seat), most of the braking is done by the front brakes (or tires). My HO!
