Mark is correct.

1500s thru 1965 were a 6 digit serial number, not a 7 digit like the 1200.
At the end of December 1964 (1965 Model Year) the factory parts book shows
VIN 2x5082480 had 1500 Engine # 816281

"H" Prefixed 1500s began in August 1965 (1966 Model Year) at H0000001.
