I do have a carburetor. I took it off, and cleaned it. Looked pretty clean. Not sure how smoothly the valve at the top is supposed to move - it seemed stiffer than I remember. One of the caps on the carburetor had some bad cracking -so I replace that. Started it up. Drove around the block - still having problems. Another symptom, that I may have missed before, but can see now. The engine is running really hot. Like I can barely touch the dipstick after a short drive around the block. That doesn't seem right to me. Here are the basic scenario - I start bus, it starts ok. I drive bus. It drives ok. After about 1/4 mile to 3/4 mile it stutters and stops, almost like it has run out of gas - but I can see it has plenty of gas. The gas is fresh. The filters are clean. I don't know it the heat is causing it to stall (unlikely) or the heat is another indication or thing pointing to a problem. I just don't know what the problem is. When I parked it 2 years ago - it drive fine. I don't recall any problems. -Kevin Guarnotta Jamaica Plain, MA '78 Westy '69 Singlecab '65 Ez-camper -----Original Message----- From: Bob Pratt [mailto:ka1dza at verizon.net] Cc: type2 at type2.com; vintagebus at type2.com Subject: Re: [T2] Good News Hi Kevin, Does this engine have a carburetor? I had something similar happen to me. The shaft that holds the acceleration pump together fell out! It's on the passenger side of the carb. I replaced it, but the problem was still there. I replaced the diaphragm in the pump and the problem went away. Even a pinhole will cause problems! Bob
