One of my and my wife's favorite/former vehicles, the 1985 Wolfsburg Weekender. - I had to pull the gas tank and replace the overflow/crossflow lines and gaskets, flush tank due to contaminants. Resulted in a scar on my thumb. - Had a coolant leak somewhere and I would need to âburpâ the radiator lines every so often. Which required finding an uphill curb to ride up on and then vent the radiator. I replaced the water pump and all the plastic components and seals - which helped a great deal. - I could never figure out what the proper oil weight was for Texas summers - I should have gone with a wide-viscosity synthetic. Eventually I had a lifter failure. the heads just started to leak, so the new owner pulled and installed rebuilt heads. Strong motor though - went to serve many more years. > On Apr 24, 2018, at 2:00 PM, vintagebus-request at type2.com wrote: > > Send vintagebus mailing list submissions to > vintagebus at type2.com > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://www.type2.com/lists/vintagebus/listinfo > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > vintagebus-request at type2.com > > You can reach the person managing the list at > vintagebus-owner at type2.com > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of vintagebus digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Then sell it once I get back to the east coast. I haven't sold my wife on this idea yet - but who knows... > > I see a Westy Weekender in Modesto for a decent price. Anyone live near there interested in checking one out for me? It is also a 1985 - wasserboxer. I've never worked on one of those - so maybe I should avoid it? Any thoughts/suggestions on these compared to a Bay window? > > -Kevin Guarnotta > Jamaica Plain, MA > > '78 Westy > '69 Singlecab > '65 Ez-camper > > > > ------------------------------ > > Subject: Digest Footer > > _______________________________________________ > vintagebus mailing list > vintagebus at type2.com > https://www.type2.com/lists/type2/listinfo > > ------------------------------ > > End of vintagebus Digest, Vol 49, Issue 3 > *****************************************
