It's actually very easy to remove the metal top of the dash only...take out the glovebox (one Phillips head screw) take off the heater control levers (depends on year of Bus), reach behind the cluster and unscrew the speedo cable and then pull the 4 screws holding the cluster in. Pull the cluster forward so you can get your hands in there. There are six 10mm nuts holding the dash together. Remove those 6 nuts and the Phillips head screws at the windshield and they will pull apart and leave the front portion of the dash and all wiring in place. Should take maybe 20 mins to have it apart.
