You'd be better off with a Type 2 motor. Probably the most dependable was the 1.7L. They're not that hard to find. You'll get a bit more power and a lot less headache doing the modifications to fit the bug engine. Put it back to original as much as possible. Replace your engine seal as needed and monitor your temperatures and you should get a long life out of it. In good shape but has a tired Corvair engine that I installed after the Type 4 engine blew up. I am now thinking that rather than rebuilding the Corvair engine I may go back to a VW engine. I understand that in Europe they sold Busses with the Bug engine up to 1979. I should be able to install a bug engine in my bus. Bug engines are plentiful on SAMBA and other sites. I will need a transaxle to match. Has anyone ever done this? I’d like to know if you have. > Thank You, > John I. > Maryland > > _______________________________________________ > type2 mailing list > type2 at type2.com > https://www.type2.com/lists/type2/listinfo
