[T2] Main shaft for 74 bus

I recently decided to switch to a type 4 engine after running a type 1 in my 74 bus.  Of course I've had a shortened main shaft in the tranny.  Since I'm going back to the type4 engine, do I need the longer shaft back in the tranny?  Thanks!
