[T2] Secondary battery optima advise on vanagon 1983

Hi , I am installing a secondary battery on my vanagon 1983.

I like the Optima 8014-045 D34/78 and the slightly smaller Optima 
8042-218 D75/25

I've seen some install over the www showing that you may have to cut the 
frame a little bit so it sit right. All the info I could get was for 
vanagon > 1988, mine is 1983 . Do you guys have any experience fitting 
those guys behind the driver seat ?
