Tom, Did the bus exhibit these same symptoms prior to having the tank cleaned and changing the fuel pump? Is that why you had this work performed? After about 30 minutes of driving and when my bus is fully warmed up, I'm experiencing power loss and sputtering. Data points: - only happens when going uphill, particularly with steep grades - happens primarily in 4th but may just be RPM related: it seems to occur below ~2500 rpm (just noticed it in 3rd) - new fuel pump - hear ticking sound from carb after stopping to cool down (like a wind-up kitchen timer ticks) - watched fuel getting sucked through pre-carb filter after stopping to cool down - fuel pressure verified to be 2.5 to 3 psi after installing new pump (IIRC) Bus also seems to be trending towards overheating when the power loss occurs. Not sure if that's related. Specs: 1971 bus 1600 SP engine Non-doghouse oil cooler 009 and 30-pict 2 I'm guessing it's the fuel pump, or float, as the gas tank was recently cleaned, but I'm at my wits end. Any thoughts? Thanks!
