Hi Chris,
Replacing the original bulbs was the first thing I did. Today I unplugged the bulbs and tried the turn signals and brake lights again. Same thing happened. I was going to change the headlight switch with one I had, but the spare I have is for  a 72-79 bus. So unless I figure that it's not the switch, I'll be ordering a new one.
