I have put racing gas electric shut offs on my tank, no ignition on, no gas leaves tank, period. not all that expensive, bit of a hassle to install but relay on ignition at coil controls it and if ever there is an issue on the road, turn off ignition and there is no fuel flow. at this point I would try to get as much gas out of tank as possible before working on it any way you can that is safe.
