Bob, I had a dim generator light that was on because of a poor connection under the dash where the line from the generator connects to the idiot light in one of those plastic connector pieces. The connector piece was actually melted a bit. Someone can (and will!) correct me, but I believe that connection is actually required for the generator to function properly.
