On Tue, Jun 26, 2018 at 7:41 PM, Davepatwms <davepatwms at tds.net> wrote: > Cn you remove the gas tank from a 1973 bus without pulling the engine? > Thanks, Dave. sure - you just have to remove everything in the way. that means the carbs, manifold, etc etc. you can even do it with an upright, but stripping the top of an upright in the engine compartment is a lot harder. :) when you remove the firewall panel you'll have a good visual reference for what needs to come off. is it less work than dropping the engine? not really, unless you're not equipped to do that. especially on a t4 where you can just lower the assembly out of the way.... unbolt the front trans mount, the rear engine mounts, and maybe the upper trans mount if you have one, and lower it down.
