One thing I know is that even though some parts interchange, many do not. Especially the geard device above the handle. It has stops on start and stop. Each application takes different number of turns bug are like 13 turns, Volvo more, bays like 19 turns, Vanagons more like 21 turns. I had an 82 Vanagon sunroof and drove it a LOT. other than cleaning out the pine needle debris from the drain holes it worked flawlessly for 10 years.
