Listen to me. The voice of experience. Go to your NAPA store and buy a stant vented cap #10623. That's all you need. Is there a spot I can see what an original looks like to compare? Or is there a way to test the cap to see if it is vented? -Kevin Guarnotta Jamaica Plain, MA â78 Westy '69 Singlecab '65 Ez-camper -----Original Message----- From: david raistrick [mailto:keen at icantclick.org] Subject: Re: [VB] Gas Cap VEnting problem? > What would cause this? I know the gasket/seal on the gas cap is relatively new, and it is generally pretty tough to close the cap - as it is so tight. It is a rubber one. Without going through my notes - I put on a few years ago. I think these were originally cork, should I go back to the cork style. get rid of the cheap and common cap that doesn't vent. it will crush your tank by vacuum if you run it out a few times.... split bus tanks require a vented cap. (I dont have a split bus tank anymore, so I can't speak to source. but they exist - find a used or nos original cap and regasket it. if you have your old cap, swap the gasket to it.) _______________________________________________ vintagebus mailing list vintagebus at type2.com https://www.type2.com/lists/vintagebus/listinfo
