[T2] why it won't start

adding this...
If it runs a sec or two on ether that would tend to indicate a fuel
problem. If you are using ether, I would disconnect the fuel
pump...relay/connection, etc....could be too much fuel getting in there
due to high fuel pressure.

with ether it sputters but still won't run. (but at least isn't
backfiring)

Sputters? Does it sound like it is about to start or does it sound like
only a couple of cylinders are firing? When you checked spark, did you
check all 4 cylinders/plugs? If it runs a sec or two on ether that would
tend to indicate a fuel problem. Otherwise, spark/timing is suspect.
If fuel is the problem, would check pressure. If it doesn't sound like it
is almost running on ether, I would chase spark issues.

There is something very basic that is being overlooked....gotta be fuel or
spark.

went over everything with fine tooth comb.

. compression 115-120
. getting fuel injector firing
. moved wire on coil that was on wrong terminal (thanks Jamie)
. hot spark
. checked valve lash. (hydr)
. reset timing

with ether it sputters but still won't run. (but at least isn't
backfiring)
am debating draining gas and putting in fresh.???

any other suggestions..???

thanks
